Retribution Paladin – Solo General Rajaxx (AQ20)

Solo General Rajaxx as a Ret Paladin

When I made Khor, my Retribution Paladin, one of the first things I did upon reaching level 80 was attempt to solo Onyxia, ZG, and AQ20.  I was able to solo Onyxia, and ZG wasn’t far behind.  AQ20 was more difficult, and after wiping on Kurinnaxx several times, I decided to skip him and try Rajaxx.  He also wiped me several times.

Now, after many gear upgrades, I was able to one shot him with my normal approach.  He does have a heavy knockback that deals around 13-14k dmaage on me, but other than that, there really wasn’t much to worry about.  My SoL and JoL in combination with Divine Storm were able to heal me back up to full HP between the knockbacks, so HP wasn’t a concern.

Buffs

Because I was leary of Rajaxx’s damage output, I opted for the safe and secure SoL/JoL combo.  Here are the buffs I used as a Ret Paladin:

• Seal of Light
• Judgement of Light
• Blessing of Kings
• Retribution Aura

Strategy

The strategy here was simple.  After engaging Rajaxx, I kited him backwards towards Kurinaxx’s area, and just did a series of passes back and forth between Rajaxx’s ‘gate’ and Kurinaxx’s pit.  The NPC’s were all alive and helping me, but would lag behind at times with all the kiting.  Rajaxx’s knockback would take me to around 50% HP, usually hitting for around 13k damage.

Seal of Light and Judgement of Light were more than enough to keep me topped off, and it was just a short matter of time before he went down.  Previous failed attempts of mine had me tanking him in one spot, but because of my lack of success with those previous attempts, I did not try it this time around.  It may or may not work, so it’s up to you if you want to try that.  Kiting for sure got him down for me.

Loot

After two bosses down, I am looking to make anywhere from 40-50g per boss kill.  Not bad at all.  The trick will be determining how long it takes me to get all the bosses down, and how much of the trash I can avoid fighting, since trash doesn’t seem to be too profitable for the time spent killing them.

The scarabs and idols sell for much less than their ZG counterparts on my server.  Not worth the time farming trash in my opinion.

For General Rajaxx, I looted the following:

• 25g coinage
• 20g for class spell books
• 8g for vendored boss gear

Around 53g for this boss kill, which isn’t bad at all.  Add that to Kurinnaxx’s 40g or so, and your looking at 90g+ for less than 10 minutes of work.
