Retribution Paladins got some help in a recent update to Patch 4.0.1. As most of us know, our DPS and damage output was drastically lowered when 4.0.1 went live, so Blizzard did a little to help us out. Hammer of Wrath is all the rage, and Crusader Strike got jacked up further.
Here are the changes from Blizz:
Retribution
- Hammer of Wrath base damage has been increased by 300%. [1253.82 to 1385.8] to [4890.09 to 5404.84]
- Crusader Strike now deals 150% weapon damage, up from 120%.
Holy
- Holy Wrath base damage has been increased by 30%.
- Exorcism now scales from 15% of Spell Power or AP, down from 22,5%. Base damage increased by 30%.
Hammer of Wrath is absolutely obliterating things now, critting upwards of 25k and more. Crusader Strike is also hitting noticeably harder, at times critting for more damage than Templar’s Verdict normal.
Recent Beta Change
This is a little older news, but very important:
Retribution
- Zealotry now requires 3 Holy Power to use, but does not consume Holy Power.
Incredibly important, as we don’t have to wait for another Crusader Strike to initiate Templar’s Verdict after hitting Zealotry.
Paladin Tier 11

beta? …im confused lol
Yeah, they’re still making changes in Beta as well. Lumped this info together, sorry bout that 😉
Buddy of mine was saying that different colors for the tier set signified what spec you are (need to remember to ask him for his source though) but if he’s right, white would probably be for Holy with ret getting either the blue or black version that you can see at MMO Champion.
Really don’t like the look of the set but the black version looks alright enough.
Im srry is this armor supposed to look elite and cool ?
we all r going to look like freaking dranei , FAIL !
WOW that T11 is U-G-L-Y We look like gargoyles
Does this mean that the changes you mentioned aren’t “live” yet?
I find a lot of the T11 stuff has undersea themes. I mean, the hunter looks like something from Lovecraft’s Innsmouth, the priest looks like some sort of undersea caster, and we (paladins) look like our armor is made from coral, and we should be guarding King Neptune’s palace.
@ Taddeous – Hah! I thought the same thing. From a distance I was thinking more Peacock than anything else. But upon closer inspection is seems very stone-like. MMO Champion said there is a lighting effect not displayed on those photos, so maybe that will add some impressiveness!
At least it is not a dress
Look at it from the good side… Front looks just like back, which means your enemies can’t tell if you’re charging or fleeing! Awesome… I think =p
I don’t know I kinda like the Pally Tier 11….it’s kinda of like…a Stone Angel at least we arent looking like deformed Murlocs like the hunters =X.
The new content i about both Undersea and Elementals so I’m thinking more that Melee type classes got elemental looking armor while casters and ranged types got the more undersea look. A least thats what it’s looking like so far.
It looks good compared to what we have now (a dress with a dead fish on my face). I would rather look like a coral gargoyle, gives me the impression of an immovable object. Intrigued by the lightnening thing though, might completely change your p.o.v on the T11 set. Thumbs up from me.
Oh, gods. Well, at least I’ll be in costume for when Mardi Gras rolls around.
Seriously? The set looks really stupid. The design is ridiculous and the colors look like it got hit with a bunch of Easter eggs. bleah!! Oh well it will look go in April. 🙂
Just saw an updated picture over at mmo-champion and with the glow effects, actually not too bad. And having the belt on makes it look even better.
Oh great, I get to run around with chicken-wing spaulders and a cathedral on my head until tier 12 is released. Awesome. At least there’s no skirt this time.
@Nytengale: If you think this looks like an easteregg apparently you never played through BC with the Skittles Brigade =O XD
Ok… I hate that art (T11).
How about that T5 in BC?! Haha Power Rangers! Every set since then has at least been better than that one.
My question is, with the change to HoW where would that put into our rotation (especially when avanging wrath is used)
P.S I’v been using a Wingz/Zelatry combo
All help is loved <3
@ Shageron – HoW actually flies in above CS at 2nd behind TV because of how strong it is. When AW is used, I place it top priority because it crits harder than a TV crit. I’m sure we will see some more changes before this is all over, so our rotation could shift again.
Thank You very much =] ill b sure to check for more changes ;D
Tier 2 by far looks the best out of all the tiers.
