Fit Gamer – Week 3 Progress
No problems this week from any of the workouts. I am a tad sore in my quads, but that’s about it. I can tell this week was focused around the shoulders and arms, because I could really feel the burn, even with such light weights starting out.
My dieting has remained consistent, and my weight is hovering around 160. My stomach has flattened for the most part, and hints of a six-pack are starting to come through. Now it is time to tone up and build muscle.
In order to help with my upper body strength, I leave my pull-up bar in the door frame and will try to do 5-7 pull-ups every time I pass by. I also added additional weights to my shoulder, chest, and arm workouts (in the form of resistance).
Again, I want to emphasize, yet again, that I do all this from home. One of the biggest cop-outs, er excuses…ahem, reasons people give for not working out is being unable to get to the gym, or afford a gym membership. What I am doing can be done entirely at home. As a stay-at-home dad, this allows me to continue to take care of my daughter, and keep myself in shape without any need to go to a gym.
Here is a video of week 3, and use of the resistance bands.
Good to see your keeping it up, this is the first time i’ve been able to see your vids. It’s really surprising what only 3 weeks can do, I went for a drink with friends last night and it was comforting to see they had all noticed a change (my face is always first to show). Keep up the good work!
Thanks man! Good to see you’re seeing results, too! Main thing I have noticed is my energy level has gone way up. My interval training has become easier, allowing me to intensify the sprints.
hey, you’re doing squats but i can’t see your legs! show me that form!
Great! Just to let you know I’m now following youR blogs religiously. I too am a stay at home dad of a son, play wow a couple hours here and there. Made a switch from 80 rogue to a paladin…and also on a quest to get healthy. Its great to be able to read this! Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great to see more raiders getting fit XD
I’ve been playing wow almost any hour i can when i’m not working out or training, but i’m still in great shape so it IS possible to be a hardcore raider like myself and others and still be physically fit.
Just a tip though, with the pullups, doing 5-7 every time you pass by isnt going to do much for your muscles, although it will build stamina. Ive been boxing for 6 years and one of the big things my trainer stresses on it not over working your body.
Instead of doing 5-7 pullups every time you pass, do them occasionally. Maybe a set of 20-30 (or however many you can do) once or twice a night, and the evening before you go to bed doing as many as you can will help you alot. (sleep is a great time for your muscles to repair and fix from the stress). But other than that, keep it up man, ill be following your blogs
You’re right…it’s not to build muscle at all…it’s to train my body to be able to do more since my upper body strength is probably needing the most work. I never over-do them, just enough to keep getting my body used to doing more reps.
