Ret Pallies should first focus on being hit capped (960), then Expertise Capped (26). After this the importance of stats are usually held to be:
Strength>Crit>Mastery>Haste
Mastery and Crit are occassionally debated as being of equal importance. Mastery can be better if your quick on your rotation. Otherwise take Crit, its automatically beneficial.

If you were attacking from the front, then this likely accounts for your “misses”. Getting expertise capped will remove dodge and parry from the table.”

@Khor – That comment may have been a long time ago, but I just wanted to correct it. Expertise cap for melee dps does not remove parry, it removes dodge. If you soft capped it, dodge will be gone, but if you attack from the front, you have a 7.5% chance of parry, which is why attacking behind the boss is essential for melee dps. I don’t know what a dual-wielding class has to deal with though.

When I get my belt it adds 60 to my hit rating.

Once you get really good at recognizing your priorities, you may not need the add-on at all.

How important is it to obtain your expertise cap, and is gaining it w/o the glyph a necessity? I looked but I have not seen a lot about expertise on your site. Help would be lovely, thank you!
