World of Warcraft Patch 4.2: Rage of the Firelands (Paladins)

World of Warcraft Patch 4.2: Rage of the Firelands – official patch notes for Retribution and other Paladins.

Retribution Paladin:

  • Inquiry of Faith now increases Inquisition duration by 66/133/200%, up from 50/100/150%.
  • The Seals of Command talent now makes Seal of Righteousness hit an unlimited number of melee targets, instead of only 2 additional targets.
  • Selfless Healer can no longer be dispelled and cannot be stolen via Spellsteal; and, in addition to its current effects, it lowers the cooldown of Word of Glory by 5/10 seconds.

Protection Paladin:

  • Ardent Defender has a new spell effect.
  • Guarded By The Light no longer interacts with Holy Shield in any way.
  • Hammer of the Righteous mana cost has been lowered to 10%, down from 12% to match Crusader Strike.
  • Holy Shield has been redesigned. This talent is now an activated ability off the global cooldown. It grants 20% increased block amount to a paladin’s shield blocks for 10 seconds, with a 30-second cooldown.
  • Judgements of the Wise now procs on attempt rather than on strike, which means judgements that miss can still grant mana. This is to help ensure Protection paladins are not starved for mana if they aren’t capped on hit rating.

Holy Paladin:

  • Beacon of Light can no longer be dispelled. In addition, it now transfers 100% of the heal from Holy Light, but still 50% of the heal from other spells.
  • Denounce has been redesigned. It still reduces the mana cost of Exorcism. However, it no longer has a chance on Holy Shock of making Exorcism free and instant. Instead, it has a 50/100% chance to prevent the Exorcism target from causing critical effects for the next 6 seconds. This effect can be dispelled.
  • Holy Shock mana cost has been decreased to 7% of base mana, down from 8%.
  • Illuminated Healing (Mastery) has been adjusted slightly so that if a paladin refreshes an existing copy of his or her own Illuminated Healing on a target, the new absorption amount will be added into the old absorption amount and the duration will be reset. The total absorption created can never exceed 1/3 of the casting paladin’s health.
  • Infusion of Light can now lower the cast time of Flash of Light by 0.75/1.5 seconds, in addition to Holy Light and Divine Light. In addition, the old Denounce spell overlay effect has been transferred to Infusion of Light since Denounce is no longer a proc.
  • Speed of Light now increases movement speed when Holy Radiance or Divine Protection are cast. In addition, this talent now reduces the cooldown of Holy Radiance by 13/26/40 seconds, up from 10/20/30.
  • Walk in the Light now improves Word of Glory healing by 30%, in addition to its current effects.

There were always great in depth analysis of patches and what it meant for our class. Great ways to see what new gear might do and everything was very up to date. It was the holy grail for ret paladins. Khor please come back! We all know how busy you were with this site. Just update the site a little less then you did in the past. One well written update per two weeks is more then enough.

This post is almost 2 weeks old and there is one comment prior to this one. And that comment was to have Khor back. This site must be close to dead. It’s sad to see as it used to be a great place, it still can be but the new owners must put in the time to write meaningful articles, not just copy and paste patch notes.

Please do not take this the wrong way, I do not mean to imply that creating such articles is easy but surely you must have had a plan when you decided to take over? I would suggest that if Khor is still playing and you reach out to him to help you out for a bit. He invested lots of time into this sire and he surely wouldn’t want to see it die off.

To those of you that read this site please place a comment and provide some suggestions to the new owners.

” I commend you Eden for taking over a well established site, it is not an easy task and things were bound to be different…. I was just not expecting it to be practically nonexistent. ”

No problem ^^ I’m not the webmaster of this site, I’m like you, a RetPaladin who offers a small analysis about the 4.2 patch notes

So I have a question, if we are at 26 expertise unbuffed without reforging is it really necessary to forge out of it down to 16 or should we just replace the glyph? I can’t forge past 17 now and it’s a bit annoying since the same items I need to reforge away from hit also have expertise on them and I am way over my hit cap.

  5. vudaa says:

yes please we need an update

  6. Exalliance says:

Gigi, what are your other prime glyphs? I personally would replace it and have glyph of CS, Judge, and TV be my primes if I was expertise capped. I am no theorycrafter (and currently not raiding at all) – so maybe someone with a little more experience could chime in as well.

As for the site – this might be the last time I check it out. It will probably be removed from my favorites lists as I am really tired of being disappointed week after week. This site used to be my escape from elitist jerks. Things were explained in plain English, and this was (imo) the best place for a ret to feel welcome and learn everything they need to be successful. I had been an avid follower for years. Best of luck to you Khor. You are definately missed!

  7. vudaa says:

@gigi if you still need that help link me your armory

  8. matab says:

Glyph of Seal of Truth is The best glyph until you have like 23 exp fully reforged. The Judgement glyph is very poor I wold not recommend using it in any way. If you can’t get rid of your expertise use CS glyph instead, with Exorcism and Templar’s Verdict.

  9. ROFLbution Pally says:

I am a huge fan of this site. I recently discovered it and was blown away at the amount of easily accessable info for myself and fellow Ret Pallies. But looking deeper, I found that an ownership change had been made from the original Khor to a new, less active person. Please revive this site and save info starved Ret pallies everywhere! Good luck and GG to Khor as he built a genius site that is informative and usefull.
