Just throwin’ this out there, on my DK I’ve solo’d all BC heroics, beaten the opera event (dorthy) and the first two bosses in Kara. Obviously ZG. I plan on starting on MC sometime soon, but I hear I’ll need a second weapon ’cause Rag takes forever with only one person. I’ve got a pseudo-custom 28//0/43 build on my DK Rankra.

Guys,

i have a 5,5k Gearscore Ret Pala and Holy dual specc.
I have prot gear in my bank wich gives me a gearscore of 5k wich would be better to solo BC Heroics and MC ?

Pretty sure it’s not soloable, I’ve done BT and parts of the Eye with almost zero success thus far as Ret

hey i was just wondering if it would be possible to solo The Eye as a ret paladin with 5500 gearscore or would you need a healer as well. I want to try for the pheonix mount

TK, I’m so sorry man! Apparently, I lack the ability to read. Where you said soloing, I read leveling.

Khor is noob.

Yeah, I have a pure prot spec for anything I cannot Ret. It goes with SoC, and I can pretty much handle anything at this point in terms of soloing earlier raids.

My bad, I’ll get my glasses next time!

Cool, thanks. Even though I’m well past leveling, there is a lot of good theory there.

I’m going to do some experimenting with a 0/27/44 build, focusing on surviving some of the harder raid boss encounters, and if I come up with anything useful I’ll post here about it.

It's the best way to go, far more optimal than anything prot will give you. THe burst damage from ret is so high that it's a must for speed leveling paladins. Or at least for burning through content at a satisfactory pace.

BTW, in case Gad checks in again, Here’s the method I use to form solo raids.

Log on an alt in a capital city. DK bank alt is what I use, since a low level will prevent entry into raids.

Use local chat (not trade) and ask if someone has a minute to help you form a solo raid group. People are often hanging around the AH on alts, it’s always been easy to find someone. I always think I’m going to need to offer money, but never have.

Invite them to group, and pass them leader. Tell them you will log on with your main, tell them the name. Log off the alt, log your main. Send a tell to the person asking for invite, and then have them pass you leader. Thank them nicely, send them some bowls of chowder (optional,) and kick them.

You are left with a 2 person group, with the other person being your logged off alt. Convert to raid, and remember to change the loot rules, so you don’t wind up having to role on something against your DC’ed alt.

Hi Khor. Great site, learning a lot.

I’m curious if you have any thoughts on a specialized talent build for soloing. The comment above that suggested 0/27/44 is interesting. I’ve been trying out some different things as I solo my way through the BC dungeons. I’m feeling like full ret gear and the EJ concentration aura raiding spec is not the best way to go.

If you have a specialized soloing build on the site, I can’t find it. And do you mix in any prot gear? Ever throw on a shield? Not enough to turn it into a prot grind, that’s not what any of us want…

Hey Khor,just wanted to let you know I used your ZG guide to finish soloing every boss last night. Worked like a charm. Got everyone on first fight as well, including Tiger Boss. GREAT STRATS! Thanks for putting this all together.
