Cataclysm Stat and Gear Changes

Here is a post from Eyonix about the upcoming stat and system changes to our gear, gems, etc. in WoW Cataclysm: [Source]
A couple key things to note concerning Retribution Paladins:

Reforging will allow re-distribution of certain stats.  Certain stat changes will not be permitted, such as Stamina to Strength.
Ret Paladins will be getting mana through other means, no Intellect on gear (a given).
Armor Pen is out, will be converted to crit or haste.
Ratings will be much more difficult to cap in Cataclysm.  This means no easy hit caps.
Weapon skill is gone.  …

Heirloom gear in Cataclysm will be seeing some changes.  Not sure I’m a huge fan, but at the same time, I understand the logic behind it.  The current heirloom gear in WotLK will NOT be beneficial or useful past level 80.  It will not scale with level 81-85, and will not grant the XP bonuses.  This is according to several sources on the Cataclysm forums, but has not been officially confirmed by Blizzard yet.
They can still be used to level from 1-80, but will become non-factors from level 81 on.  …

Ret Paladins – Best Weapons

The best weapons for Ret Paladins vary depending on gear and combat situations.  There is some varying degree of argument regarding Bryntroll and other weapons, but for the most part, this vanilla list can help you get an idea of what is available to Retribution Paladins in ICC.
This list comes from Elitist Jerks, the orignal thread can be found [HERE].  Current for Patch 3.3.2.

[Shadowmourne]
[Oathbinder, Charge of the Ranger-General]
[Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand]
[Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter]
[Bloodfall]
[Warmace of Menethil]
[Cryptmaker]
[Oathbinder, Charge of the Ranger-General]
[Shadow's Edge]
[Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand]
[Bryntroll, the Bone …

Ret Paladins and Tiny Abomination in a Jar

The best trinket for Ret Paladins at the moment is [Tiny Abomination in a Jar].  The reason being is that motes stack up very quickly for Retribution Paladins.  We can proc up to 4 motes in one swing with our various attacks and abilities.  On top of that, the bonus 50% damage from 8 motes procs our seals as well.
Tiny Abomination in a Jar (TAiaJ) is so powerful for us, that the heroic and normal versions are numbers 1 and 2 on our best trinkets list.  If you are lucky …

Protection Paladin Tanking Shields

Tanking Shields for Protection Paladins
Current for WotLK and Patch 3.3

With Protection as my off-spec, the one piece of gear I always seem to struggle finding is my tanking shield.  I am still using a level 219 shield from Ulduar, if that tells you of my difficulties.  So while I was perusing wowhead, exploring my tanking shield options, I decided to write a quick post on the subject.
Starting at item level 200 (epic quality) and moving up, I have compiled a list of tanking shields for Protection Paladins.  They are as …

Holy Paladin Shields

Healing Shields for the Holy Paladin
Current for WotLK and Patch 3.3

As Ret Paladins, we are often utilized for our off-spec should the need arise.  One of those off-specs is Holy, allowing us to heal.  Normally, we are single target healers, often focusing on the main tank, or off-tank, allowing Druids, Priests, and Shaman to group heal as needed.
One of our most unique pieces as a Holy Paladin is the shield we carry.  The healing shield is only used by two classes: Paladins and Shaman.  So, there is usually little competition …

Gear Score Fever

Gear score fever has taken hold of a vast number of World of Warcraft players.  It has swept over PUG raiding like a plague, creating a whirlwind of controversy.  Gear score is a calculated number representing a World of Warcraft players level of gear.  Gear score is then used as a measuring tool by raid leaders to determine if a player has the gear necessary to participate in a particular dungeon, with higher scores necessary for more difficult encounters.
The gear score controversy revolves around gear score only measuring what armor a player …

Best Ret Pally Trinkets

Retribution Paladin Trinkets
Best for Patch 3.3

The Top 10 Trinkets for a Ret Pally have finally left Darkmoon Card: Greatness behind.  With new trinkets in ToGC, we finally were able to start switching out our DM card.  Now, we have trinekts that can just leave it in the dust.  About time.
My previous Ret Paladin trinket post was a bit misleading, particularly because it was based off my own personal Rawr scores. I had a very poor trinket (Mirror of Truth) still equipped, so the priorities were a bit skewed.
With a little …

Retribution Paladins Updates!

Just wanted to let you guys know I made a few updates to existing pages here on RetributionPaladins.com.  I went ahead an updated the Best in Slot Ret Paladin gear lists, since those seem to be pretty concrete at the current time.  I do expect this to change a bit before it is all said and done, so keep checking back!  I also included the videos and strats for Festergut, Rotface, and Professor Putricide.

Ret Paladin ICC 5-Man Loot List

Ret Paladin ICC 5-Man Loot
Here is a complete ICC 5-man loot list for Retribution Paladins.  I know it is coming a month or so after ICC has been released, but more and more people are running these instances, now focusing on alts (as well as mains).  I will try to make this list as easily navigable as possible.
I have observed many a Ret Paladin running these instances without a clue if loot was coming, and was hoping for just some upgraded piece of gear.  There have also been many cases where …
